Decreased number of mapped metabolites?

Hello,

I have 150 HMDB IDs that I am using in the metabolite enrichment analysis module (quantitative enrichment analysis portion) to compare two experimental groups. When I did this analysis back in mid 2022, 125 out of the 150 metabolites were matched in the database. However, when I repeat this analysis now only 86 of the 150 metabolites are matched in the database. Unfortunately, this changes some of the enrichment results and some of the ones that disappear are actually meaningful/expected in the experiment. Is there a reason why fewer metabolites are being internally mapped? As an example, this metabolite (below) was mapped in 2022, but now does not map properly (HMDB0010417 ). I look forward to any information on the matter. Thanks!

Hi, there are a few possible reasons:

  1. During the update, we noticed a few hundred HMDB compounds have been either retired or merged/migrated to a different HMDB ID. In this case, we recommend either try re-matching compound name to HMDB ID before proceeding, or verifying with HMDB database for updated ID.
  2. Make sure to select the appropriate feature type - metabolites / lipids.

Hope this helps! If the issue persists, please feel free share a few more compound IDs if possible and we will be happy to look into it.
