The cellular localization data is derived from the UniProt Knowledgebase (UniProtKB). To facilitate clustering and functional analysis, we map UniProt’s granular location terms to a simplified set of broad functional environments.
Users can inspect the specific granular location and its assigned broad category for any selected protein in the bottom right corner of the interface (see screenshot below). The supported categories include:
- Nucleus
- Cytosol
- Endomembrane
- Mitochondrial & Metabolic Organelles
- Cytoskeleton
- Cell Surface & Adhesion
